dixie carter

Since she very first began to talk, Sunshine has had a deep Southern accent. It comes on suddenly, in the midst of explaining a game to her brother or reciting a poem. She rarely goes a day without making something trivial sound like a line from a Faulkner novel. We're not sure how or why it started, but we love it. Whenever she slips into her native tongue, we tease her, "Why, of course, honey child! Whatever you say, Dixie Carter!" She giggles.
