While my mom was visiting last month, we swung by the Arboretum again. Sunshine had been in school and Don had been at work (BORING) the last time we went, and I wanted everyone to have the chance to see the goodness that is fall.
Our favorite part of this trip was visiting the fountain of pumpkins. The creative folks at the Arboretum had set up pumpkins at this fountain for the kids to push into it.
It was loads of fun, for the kids and for me. I'm not sure how much fun Don had, because it was primarily his task to fish out pumpkins and set them up for the kids to push
over and over and over again. What a good dad!
In the Pecan Grove, they had set up a really child-friendly hay maze that the older two kids loved. They ran and ran and ran through, over, on top of, and around the hay bales.
You know those sweet little couples who only have one child? They pose their child oh so perfectly at places like this and then some rude and undisciplined kid actually uses the maze for the purpose it was designed for and ruins their photo op?
Those rude kids were mine. I think we took out a few of those only children on accident. Pocket was smart enough to stay out of their way, which is why you don't see her in these photos. Live and learn, my friends.
Plus, she kinda looked like a homeless child that day and no one wants to see photos of a homeless child at the Arboretum. hee hee hee. Just joking, Mom! Just joking!!!
Pumpkin dunking, splashing, pushing, plopping, whatever it's called, it was great fun. And it had such a cooling affect. Now the straw, that was a little uncomfortable. I loved the pecan grove. We found a few on the ground and smashed them (it was an impromtu science experiment). And she did not look homeless.
