the corn snake

Buddy is in a science class at a local nature center and science museum. His at home project for class this term involved making a poster and then presenting information about an animal that lives at the science center. He chose the corn snake.
He thought it would be really cool to ask for shedded corn snake skin from the center and then glue it to his poster. Eegads. I convinced him that making a "pop-up" poster with drawings of things a snake ate would be just as cool. First, he drew a long snake (the correct size of a full grown corn snake) and then he cut panels and drew pictures of the things the snake eats inside it. He finished it off illustrating other little tidbits about the snake's habits.


Ms Catie (shown in this photo) said she was really impressed by his presentation, because he spoke so clearly and had his three points memorized. He stressed that corn snakes are friends to farmers, what they eat, and that they are mostly active at night. Those points were drawn onHe's such a big boy!
The last photo has Pollyanna in it, because she inserts herself into every facet of our life. Nothing is off limits to the all powerful Polly. Buddy looks grumpy in the first photo, because I made him hold his poster for this photo instead of holding the snake. In the second photo, he's smiling because he's lifting a stomach flap on his poster to show the real corn snake in Catie's hand what he's allowed to eat. Teasing snakes is always smart, I'm sure.
